Wall construction

  • geometric shapes: plate, tube wall, spherical wall
  • up to 30 wall layers are possible
  • layers can be randomly inserted and deleted

Heat transfer:

the following types of heat transfer are available:

  • to ambient air
  • to combustion atmosphere
  • to water
  • to liquid metal

heat transfer to ambient air can be calculated with three formulas:

  • ASTM 680 C release 1986
  • ASTM 680 C release 2004-2014 (nondimensional)
  • VDI heat atlas (German standard, nondimensional)

in the heat transfer an external heat source can be considered, e.g. solar irradiation

Air spaces

The impact of air gaps is calculated considering thermal radiation, convection and the thermal conductivity of air.
SIMU-THERM has two types of air gaps:

  • static air gap (enclosed air)
  • ventilated air gap, forced flow or free convection

Combustion atmosphere

  • impact of He,H2,H2O and other components on the layer conductivity is calculated
  • dewpoint and water condensation in insulation layers is calculated

Metal anchors in fire concrete

  • impact of metal anchors on the layer conductivity is calculated
  • anchor tip temperature is indicated
  • anchor allors predefined, user defined alloys possible
